Track 07 of "Somewhere You'd Rather Be" by Cody J. Martin

You know that I love you and it's true that could never change
But I feel it's hard to explain, tugged in the altitude
And blind to the wind you are but are you strung out on its sway?
Oh, there's a sleepin' cloud on the plain that your charade shines through

But when I feel our hands entwine, well my emptiness inflates
And this lonesome weight can only lift a heart with no ties to the ground
But where once you fed the hands of clowns now yourself is all that you feed
And all you can see is ahead and behind but you forget to look around

And me, I'm just a balloon
Tryin' to be a parachute tied to your wrist
As you slowly float away

And there was no song to sing in the backwards guitar of your brain
Oh but the memories just drive you insane and still come in sketches now
And I watched from the sidelines cryin' as you propelled through your endless parades
Oh how I wish to just lead you away for kinder stretches now

But when I feel our strengths combine, well my weakness just grows great
And I can't penetrate the walls that surround myself when I look in your eyes
But where once I fed your hands with guidance now I struggle to emulate
A savin' grace as we move towards the ceiling with the fan blades stuck on high

And me, I'm just a balloon
Tryin' to be a parachute tied to your wrist
As you slowly float away
